US military aid to Ukraine approaches $36 billion
Yesterday, the Associated Press reported that the US is sending Ukraine another military aid package totaling $300 million. That brings the total dollar value of US aid to $36 billion across 37 different military aid packages.
Amid myriad domestic issues, including a looming recession, the Biden Presidency has not slowed down on aid to Ukraine. Republicans, despite some who want American money spent on American issues, also seem to be on board with arming Zelenskyy’s military.
Just the other day, following a press conference with the Israelis, Speaker McCarthy stated that “I vote for aid for Ukraine,” and that “I support aid for Ukraine.”
The once controversial stance of seemingly endless aid to Ukraine now seems to be unanimous. Controversy arose mainly because of rising costs in the US and a looming recession, but other factors — such as the depletion of American munitions — also raised questions on our country’s Ukraine-centric foreign policy.
The AP reported that the latest aid package includes munitions for various artillery and rocket artillery platforms, to include the notorious HIMARS.
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry stated that Ukraine is prepping for a large counteroffensive, specifically in Ukraine’s East where the bulk of the winter stalemate fighting has occurred.
Estimates put Russia’s losses above 200,000, and some pundits are beginning to suggest Russia’s munitions are soon to be depleted, and their armor assets destroyed or neutralized.
