Just proposing the idea for consideration.

That being said, I don't know that it is an overreaction. Everything we view in relation to Russia as a threat more or less stands with Iran, at least as far as their developmental track indicates.

Russia's military might was severely overestimated, which reduces their power down - in my humble opinion - to their ability to manipulate politics with energy in Europe, their unpredictability, their cyber capability, and their possession of nuclear weapons. Their proximity to Europe exacerbates all that, and rightfully so.

That being said, Iran is equally detrimental for the Middle East, if not more so in some regards. Iran is a major sponsor of terrorism in the Middle East and actively perpetuates conflicts across the region. They are one of the players responsible for the destabilization of that part of the world. Additionally, Iran with nuclear weapons is equally as bad, if not worse than Russia, due to their unpredictability as well.

I'd be curious to hear your opinion some more.
