That is why I think it will be a defining diplomatic endeavor, because the fears and dangers are ever present; we see what is happening now and we observe trends of the past.
But what you mention is an entirely more complex circumstance because yes, Russia is not crippled or defeated and clear, beneficial, secure futures are not visible.
One glaring concern is how the common man promotes Russophobia and the media and politicians likewise benefit from using it. No true progress, in which Russia can finally trust and work with the West, can come from total anti-Russian sentiment. This is particularly true, in my opinion, because there are so many Russians who are against the trajectory their nation is going in.
